Our Story
Sake Beverage Company was born at Bantam King, a popular ramen shop in DC. The story goes that a customer requested flavored sake and was disappointed when the restaurant didn’t offer it. Joshua quickly freestyled a “Sake Lemonade” cocktail and the drink became an immediate hit. Customers loved it so much, they begged for the drink to be bottled and sold!
We realized that there was an opportunity to add our own unique narrative of “American Sake” - a mix of different cultures and flavors reminiscent of the melting pot that makes our country so special. As black and Latino co-founders with a profound respect for Japanese culture, we want to lift diverse, underutilized voices in food and beverage while enriching our local communities through new food ways traditions.
